Mark your calendars: We've rounded up a lot of fun things to do on the Space Coast in April. What are you waiting for?

Poocharella in Wickham Park

This celebration of all things dog will be at Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne, on Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. With over 100 vendors, activities, and food trucks, this year’s event will include the Swift Paws lure course, K9 demonstrations, a Best in Rescue competition, pet specialty vendors, adoptable dogs, live music, beer, the Easter Bunny and more. Proceeds will benefit Touch of Grey Rescue, which supports senior and special needs dogs residing in shelters. Admission is free. Visit facebook.com/touchofgreyrescue.

Zonta Chocolate Festival in Melbourne

A rite of spring for chocoholics is Zonta Club of Melbourne’s annual Chocolate Festival, happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 2 at The Grand Manor, 1450 Sarno Road, Melbourne. Local chocolatiers will attempt to win the crown of "Brevard's Best Chocolate Fix of 2023.” The fundraiser assists Zonta Club’s local scholarship and community service projects, as well as in its fight against human trafficking and violence against women. Space Coast Spring Family Fun Fest

This all-inclusive event featuring fun for families will be at the Wickham Park Pavilion, 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne, on Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will include bounce houses, a petting zoo, a rock-climbing wall, bungee trampolines, pony rides, character meet-and-greets, a toddler zone and more. Book Fest in Cocoa Village

Readers of all ages are invited to a day of literary fun in Cocoa Village on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stores throughout Cocoa Village will have guest authors, books for sale, a book walk and more. Spring Festival and Rummage Sale

The event will be Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m at theJoseph N. Davis Community Center, 2547 Grant St., Melbourne. Dog Surfing Festival in Cocoa Beach

The Brevard Humane Society presents the 11th annual East Coast Dog Surfing Festival on Sunday, April 9. Hosted by the Brevard Humane Society and presented by Ron Jon Surf Shop, this unique dog-centric event takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Easter Sunday, April 9, at Lori Wilson Park, 1500 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach. The day of fun in the sun for people and their tail-wagging friends includes dog surfing lessons, live concerts, a dog Easter costume contest at 10 a.m., a dog bikini contest at 1 p.m., food and beverage vendors and, of course, the dog surfing championships. Although dogs are not typically allowed on the beach in Cocoa Beach, for a nominal fee dogs can join humans on the sand and surf. Admission is free, dog surfing lessons are $10, Beach access for dogs is $5, and registration for the dog surfing championships are $25. Cocoa Beach Air Show

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will be the headliners for the 2023 Cocoa Beach Air Show at Lori Wilson Park, 1500 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16. Gates open at 9 a.m. The aerial program will start at approximately 11:45 a.m. and run until about 3 p.m. each day, but the specific lineups will be posted at cocoabeachairshow.com prior to the show. Bring sunscreen, beach chairs and umbrellas for shade. Tickets start at $29, and VIP Flight Line Club tickets that include tents, catered lunch and a beverage bar are available for $179. Grant BBQ Fest

The three-day barbecue festival will be at the event grounds, 4580 First St., Grant, on Friday, April 14 from 3 to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will feature live entertainment, a marketplace with arts, crafts and local vendors, a classic car and motorcycle show and more. The music lineup includes George Clark and Conspiracy Theory on Friday, Luna Pearl, the Frank Rios Rock Band and Shoot to Thrill on Saturday, and the Stones Clones on Sunday. Blueberry Fest at Wickham Park

Blueberries take front and center at the Blueberry Fest, going on at Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne, on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 for the outdoor, family-friendly event that includes blueberries, an axe throwing tournament, a frisbee dog show, train rides, arts and crafts, bounce houses, pie-eating contest and a petting farm. There will also be a Berry Cute Baby contest at 1 p.m. each day for boys and girls no older than 24 months. A portion of the festival proceeds will benefit The Children’s Hunger Project. Sustainability Fair in Palm Bay

The Palm Bay Sustainability Advisory Board hosts this free event at Palm Bay City Hall, 120 Malabar Road, on Saturday, April 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. Enjoy food vendors, eco-vendors, a bounce house, face painting, sustainable demonstrations, games, giveaways and more. Melbourne Art Festival

The award-winning annual festival, which draws tens of thousands of art and music lovers, is a vibrant family friendly event that promotes and encourages artistic endeavors, education and appreciation of the arts in Central Florida. This year’s festival at Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne, will feature over 200 artist booths, live music, kid-friendly activities, exhibitor displays, and many food and beverage options. MetaFest at Merritt Square Mall

BUneke hosts the holistic, spiritual and wellness festival at Merritt Square Mall, 777 E. Merritt Island Causeway, on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can enjoy performances by Phoenix Band’s Ellen Onieal, Bellydance & Beyond, Viera Dance Conservatory, and Hiti Mahana. Hemp Fest in Melbourne

The inaugural Brevard Hemp Fest comes to Riverview Park,2400 Riverview Drive,Melbourne,on Saturday, April 22 from noon to 7 p.m. There will be live entertainment, yoga sessions, craft workshops and a farmers market, as well as educational seminars on the benefits of hemp. Local vendors will showcase hemp-based products from food to clothing and more. General admission starts at $20, with VIP tickets that include lounge access, a swag bag and more available for $40. Bark Brew Fest in Cocoa Village

Tails at the Barkery and Dirty Oar Beer Company, 329 King Street, Cocoa Village, will host the pet-friendly Bark Brew Fest on Saturday, April 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your canine companion to enjoy libations, an outdoor doggie beer garden, goody bags, bingo, raffles and more. Melbourne Main Street's Flavor Experience

This popular culinary event will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, at The Landing Rooftop of Hotel Melby, 801 E. Strawbridge Ave., Melbourne. The Caribbean-inspired evening promises to tantalize taste buds while strengthening the community. Each food tasting will be infused with unique flavors accompanied by a signature drink to enhance the experience.   • Postmodern Jukebox: The band, which remakes the pop hits of today with the classic sounds of yesteryear, will perform at the King Center on April 18 at 8 p.m. One part celebration of vintage music and culture, one part “’Saturday Night Live’ for singers,” the show is an unforgettable trip back in time. 'Music that Moves You' in Melbourne

Melbourne Municipal Band will perform a concert at the Melbourne Auditorium, 625 E Hibiscus Blvd., on Wednesday and Thursday, April 12-13 at 7 p.m. Dances from all over the world will be featured, including a Rag, a square dance, and a swing dance. The concert will start with “Jubilant Overture” from Alfred Reed. Swingtime Spring, Sprang, Sprung dance in Melbourne

Conductor Kurt Schulenburg leads the Melbourne Municipal Band’s Swingtime Jazz Orchestra in a concert at the Melbourne Auditorium, 625 E. Hibiscus Blvd., Melbourne, on Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event. Unlike previous years, alcoholic beverages may no longer be brought into the auditorium from outside. Fred Goodnight concert on Merritt Island

The Space Coast Jazz Society presents drummer Fred Goodnight in concert at the Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy., Merritt Island, on Sunday, April 16 at 2 p.m. Goodnight says his goal is “to be fully present and feel joy and happiness in what I do. Modigliani String Quartet in Indialantic

The Modigliani String Quartet will perform works by Schulhoff, Beethoven and Schubert in a concert hosted by the Melbourne Chamber Music Society at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2030 N. SR A1A, Indialantic. The Paris-based Quartet is a regular guest of the world’s top venues and finest string quartet and chamber music series. Lee Hardin at Surfside Playhouse

Ranger-led tour

Turkey Creek Sanctuary, 1518 Port Malabar Blvd NE, Palm Bay, offers free ranger-led tours on the first and third Sundays of most months from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants should meet at the sanctuary Nature Center and bring sturdy tennis shoes or boots, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, snacks, binoculars and a hat. The Junior League of the Space Coast hosts this free health expo at the Wickham Park Community Center, 5815 Leisure Way, Melbourne, on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family-friendly event, geared towards kids ages 5-12, showcases ways that kids and their families can eat smart and make healthy lifestyle choices. It will feature interactive tables highlighting healthy foods and cooking demonstrations, healthy wellness activities and educational information on health and safety.
